FAQs
Do I need permission for bioethanol fireplace?
No planning permission is required for bioethanol stove in Ireland. Since they don’t require chimneys, flues, or permanent structural modifications, they’re classified as movable appliances rather than building alterations.
How safe are bioethanol stoves?
Bioethanol fireplaces are generally safe when used correctly, producing minimal smoke and no harmful fumes.
Ensure proper ventilation, use high-quality bioethanol fuel, follow manufacturer instructions that we always add inside the package, and keep flammable materials away to minimise risks like burns or fire hazards.
Will a bioethanol fire heat the room?
Yes. Our biofireplace produces real flames that generate heat, typically between 1.5 kW and 6 kW, depending on the model. While it won’t replace a central heating system, it can comfortably warm a small to medium-sized room and is ideal for creating a cosy atmosphere.
Because there’s no chimney or flue, nearly all the heat stays in the room, making it an efficient choice for supplemental heating
Is a bioethanol stove expensive to run?
No. On average, a bioethanol stove uses about 0.3–0.6 litres of fuel per hour, depending on the flame size and model. With our bioethanol fuel priced at €5.00 per litre (unscented) and €5.50 per litre (scented), this works out to roughly:
- Unscented: €1.50–€3.00 per hour of use
- Scented: €1.65–€3.30 per hour of use
Because there’s no chimney or flue, all the heat stays in the room, making it an efficient choice for adding warmth and ambience without high running costs.
